Be a King - with corduroy!

„Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.“ - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Once again we are witness to the beauty of mother nature; the leaves are starting to change color, the air is getting cool and crisp, dark mornings and cold long nights are upon us.

That is to say that a colder-than-usual Fall / Winter presents us with the opportunity to adjust our wardrobes accordingly.

Corduroy? S’il vous plait!

Corduroy or “corde du roi” is French meaning cord or cloth of the King.

It is believed that corduroy had its beginnings in royalty inspired fashion – being worn by King Henry VIII in the 16th Century!

This thick, rugged, woven cotton is perfect for the crisp autumn days and our brilliant manufacturers use it this season for trousers, shakets, jackets & blazers.

MJ's Tip: Combine the Ink Blue corduroy jacket from Drakes with a lambswool waistcoat and an Oxford shirt by Drake's and flannel trousers by Rota or with the Rota cord trousers RO23010 - together with these you can expand both to a subtle corduroy suit!

Please note that cord is a versatile fabric – it is casual in its nature and should be avoided in a business professional environment except by those men who have mastered the art of fine dressing demonstrating masculine refinement!
