The tie is back?
...It was never gone for us!

While fashion magazines and catwalks are currently proclaiming the return of the tie, we at MJ can only smile - because for us it has never disappeared.
From the very beginning, MJ has opted for unlined ties - out of conviction. They are easier to wear, look more natural and fit effortlessly into any wardrobe.
It's a question of comfort, but also a question of aspiration.
Easy Wearing - our standard
Whether silk, linen or other qualities. Our lightweight interlinings give a tie more life.
The drape is softer, the knot more natural and this creates a wonderful aura. Our selection has therefore always been characterized by unlined models - the only exception: the iconic"Classico" &"Archivio" ties from Marinella.
These, out of love for your tradition, in the lined "self-tipped" finish.

Curated fabrics with a history
What particularly excites us is our passion for vintage fabrics.
At Petronius, we regularly rummage through the fabric warehouse for forgotten treasures, while at Marinella and Attolini we choose from their historical archives, which we are allowed to revive.
The result? Ties that tell stories - far removed from fast fashion and mass production.
A look at our current range shows: whether club, regimental, grenadine or printed silk - our selection is diverse, always sartorially conceived and harmoniously coordinated with our collections.
Young Men & Ivy Spirit
Exciting to observe: the Ivy style is making a comeback among a new generation and with it the renaissance of the tie.
Whether worn with a sporty jacket or a classic blazer, the tie signals attitude and a sense of style - without appearing stiff.

Why a tie?
Because style needs attitude. A tie is not an obligation, but an optional extra - a silent commitment to care, detail and form.
Those who avoid it not only forgo a piece of tradition, but often also the charisma that goes with it.
With all due respect, Olaf Scholz, who consistently chooses not to wear a tie even on state visits and at international summits, comes across as neutralized rather than confident.
A gesture that is supposed to suggest modernity, but often only creates distance.
Contrast this with Jacques Chirac, who even in summer at 35 degrees in Corrèze did not do without the scarf under his collar - and whose presence also gained weight as a result.
Or Barack Obama, who knew exactly when to wear a tie and when to take it off. The difference: he mastered both forms.
Because the tie is not rigid. It is flexible, changeable, but never arbitrary. It frames the face, it pulls posture upwards.
And this is precisely where its power lies: it doesn't make a loud impression, but it changes the image.
Not all ties are the same
In our range you will find three basic designs - all handmade, all curated in our signature style:
- Tipped Tie: lined, with plain lining classic, elegant, businesslike.
- Self-Tipped Tie: lined, with lining in the same fabric - tone on tone, subtle luxury.
- Hand-rolled tie: unlined, with hand-rolled edges - light, lively, typical of MJ.
Almost every one of our ties is made as a three-fold - a folded piece of character.
The exception? A tribute to the craft: the legendary ten-fold tie by G. Inglese, folded under the Apulian moonlight (or so the legend goes), finished with a genuine mother-of-pearl button and an attention to detail that is rarely seen anymore.

Who wore them - and how:
Style icons such as Gianni Agnelli showed the way: the tie never sat strictly, but with casual grandeur - often a touch too short, occasionally worn over a sweater, and never by chance.
Yves Saint Laurent wore it like an exclamation mark on simplicity, Cary Grant like a promise of perfection - and Steve McQueen proved that even rebels don't have to do without elegance.
They all knew that the tie is not a corset. It is a leeway and only those who master the form are allowed to play with it...
Our conclusion?
Quite simply: every man looks better with a tie.
It's not compulsory, it's optional - an expression of attitude, a personal touch, a quiet statement.
And with MJ, the following applies anyway:
"A shirt without a tie is like the sky without stars."
