In 1932, Max Gitman left New York and opened the Ashland Shirt & Pajama Company in the mining town of Ashland, Pennsylvania. He ran the factory with his two sons Alfred and Sheldon until the Gitman Bros. brand was born in 1978.

Today, Gitman Brothers is one of the last American shirt companies to manufacture its shirts entirely in the USA, in Ashland, Philadelphia. They make perhaps the most authentic button-down shirts in the world, paying homage to the country where button-down shirts were invented.

In 2008, the Gitman Vintage line was launched as a tribute to the brand's long history. Classic oxford and chambray shirts, madras checks, ivy checks and many new modern inspired patterns. Always pre-washed, very softly finished and laid in a casual style.

The "Gitmans", as many customers call these shirts, will become best friends and long-lasting companions!
